Path, In the Company Of . . . .
The following 2 minute video documents a path which takes you through a series of installations I have created in our woods. I made it over many months using bittersweet vines, cedar trunks and branches, houses formed from molds, and a generous amount of sweat and love.
Cedars
There are dozens of dead cedars on our property. Over time I have become infatuated with them; gathering, positioning, and installing roots and cuttings both indoors and out.
Bittersweet Altars
Over the years we have been removing highly invasive Asian bittersweet from our trees. As much as it is destructive and pervasive, I admire its gnarly beauty, persistence and enthusiasm. Altars and tables are made from casted cement.
Houses
The following houses measure 9 x 9 x 15 inches and are made from cement, plaster, and found clay. They reflect my love of the house form; solid, grounded, pointing up to the sky, as well as my continued exploration of home as a seemingly safe, yet precarious and temporary place.
